Elise is based in California and acclaimed for her work in adapting classical poses to help both herself and others.

As a founding director of the California Yoga Center in Mountain View and Palo Alto, CA, Elise teaches classes and workshops specializing in back and sports-related injuries and is a faculty member at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco.

Elise has successfully used yoga to minimize the effects of her own scoliosis and sees clients privately with scoliosis and other back related problems. She has published numerous articles on scoliosis and other yoga related subjects in Yoga Journal and other national magazines. Elise has studied on numerous occasions with B.K.S. Iyengar and Geeta Iyengar in India. She has produced the Yoga for Scoliosis DVD and booklet.

Elise will run the workshop in a manner that benefits both teachers of yoga and those that practice for their own scoliosis.  However the workshop is not really suited to those who have not done any yoga  before and we recommend that you have at least 12 months/1 year of Iyengar yoga experience prior to attending.

The workshop will run over two days on Saturday 13 January and Sunday 14 January 2018 and attendance is needed on both days.  The timing will be 10.30 – 4.30pm each day with an hour break for lunch.

The cost for the weekend will be £130 if you are a yoga teacher and £100 for yoga students.   Please note that as places on the course are limited, only in exceptional circumstances can we offer any refund once a payment is made.  At present the plan is that there will be space for 20 teachers and 10 students.

Click here for the link to our online booking form.  Once this is completed it takes you to a link for payment.  You can pay by debit card through our website. Or if you prefer you can pay by bank transfer or cheque, the details you need are listed on the top of the payment form.  If you do this please reference your payment as E Miller 18  and email to let us know so we can reserve your place.

We are delighted that Stephanie Quirk is conducting yoga therapy training at Sheffield Yoga Centre. Stephanie lived in Pune and assisted at the Ramamani Iyengar Yoga Institute for about 20 years. Her experience of assisting in the medical classes there forms the basis of this training.stephanie day 1

At the moment she has completed the first 1 of the 6 parts of the course. The dates for the next 2 parts are:

    - Friday 5th October – Monday 8th October 2018
    - Friday 8th November – Monday 11th November 2019

These are all 4 days and the dates are inclusive. Each day will be 10am – 5.30pm with a 2 hour break for lunch.

The therapy training with Stephanie is a structured course and sequential attendance of the course is required by her. So you are eligible to apply for the course if you have completed the first part. Or anyone who completed the first series (Bristol, Manchester, Sarva, Edinburgh and again Sarva) may attend any part of the course in any order, but they must participate in all 4 days. Teachers may take this opportunity to catch up and finish from the part where previously they left off. Teachers at intermediate level will be given priority on the course but introductory teachers may apply and will be kept on a reserve list and given places if they become available.

There are a few places left for the 2018 course and a (non-refundable) £50 deposit and a booking form will secure your place. The cost in 2017 was £260; prices may be amended in successive years but only to keep pace with inflation and costs.

Please contact us by email info@sheffieldyogacentre.co.uk if you are interested in participating and we will send you more information including how to book.
